TAP Portugal orders 53 NEOs

TAP, Portugal´s national carrier is buying 53 new aircraft (14 Airbus A330-900neos, 15 Airbus A320neos, 24 Airbus A321neos) contract valued around $8.5 billion. As part of the agreement, TAP is replacing a previous order of 12 Airbus A350-900s. The Airbus A330neo is powered by Rolls-Royce´s new Trent 7000 engines.

Asiana Airlines order 25 Airbus A321neo

South Korea´s Asiana Airlines has placed a firm order with Airbus for 25 A321neo aircraft. Asiana choose a 180 seats configuration in a two class layout. The new A321neo will bring a 20 per cent reduction in fuel consumption with the lowest operating costs on flights of up to six hours.

Jet Airways order 75 Boeing´s 737-8 MAX

India´s carrier Jet Airways and BoeingCo signed an order for 75 new version 737s MAX 8, valued at around $8 billion at current list prices, during the Dubai Air Show.

Estonian Air ceases operations

Estonian Air ceased all operations after the European Union accused the airline from receiving illegal government subsidies, ordering it to recover $91.3 million. Estonian operates at least seven aircraft, 3 Bombardier CRJ-900 and 4 Embraer´s E-170. The flag carrier was based at Tallinn Airport.

China signs deal to buy 130 Airbus

China has signed a $17bn contract to buy 100 A320s and 30 A330s from the European aerospace consortium Airbus. The deal was announced during German Chancellor Angela Merkel visit to Beijing.

Norwegian orders 19 additional 787-9

Norwegian Air Shuttle has signed an agreement to purchase 19 additional Boeing´s 787-9 Dreamliners totaling 30 units on order. Norwegian currently operates 8 B787-8 and by 2020 the airline will operate 38 Dreamliners. The Norwegian´s 787-9 will have 344 seats, 35 in premium class and 309 in economy class.

SAS first Airbus A330-300 242 tonne

Scandinavian Airlines is the first European airline to receive the new version of the Airbus A330-300, 242 tonne Maximum Take-Off Weight (MTOW). SAS has selected Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines to power its new aircraft. This new variant of the A330-300 allows an extended range of up to 6,100 nautical miles while offering up to 2 percent less fuel burn. SAS operates four A330-300 and ordered another three.

American to end flights to Israel

American Airlines announced that it will close its direct flight from Philadelphia to Tel Aviv since January 4,2016. American argued that they losted more than $20 million in the past year alone on the route.

Jet2 orders 27 Boeing 737-800s

British budget airline Jet2.com has finalized an order for 27 Boeing´s 737-800 Next Generation, valued at $2.6 billion at current list prices. Jet2 operates 60 Boeing´s 737-300, 737-800 and 757-200. Deliveries of the 27 new aircraft´s will take place between September 2016 and April 2018.

First Boeing 737MAX fuselage completed

Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, Kansas rolled out the first fuselage for the Boeing 737MAX series. The fuselage will be transported to Boeing´s Renton. Assembly is scheduled to be complete by the end of the year and the first delivery to Southwest Airlines is scheduled for the third quarter of 2017.

LAN Airlines will introduce the new Boeing 787 on the Santiago de Chile to Milan, Italy route on March 2, 2016.

Azul to start Sao Paulo-Orlando route

Brazilian airline Azul Linhas Aereas will launch a new daily route connecting Sao Paulo with Orlando, Florida starting on December 15. The another new route, Belo Horizonte-Orlando due to start on November 16. Azul will operate both destinations using Airbus A330-200.

New african airline

Congo Airways is the name of a new start-up airline based at Kinshasa´s N´djili Airport in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The airline plans to start operations on 20 August, serving eight domestic destinations with two ex-Alitalia´s Airbus A320. The first one (Reg. 9Q-CLU) is awaiting delivery in Dublin, Ireland.

AC to launch non-stop service to India

Air Canada will begin non-stop service from Toronto to Delhi since November 2015. The new route will be served with the Boeing 787-9 "Dreamliner". Air Canada received its first unit in July (Reg.C-FNOE / msn 323). The new flight AC050 will depart from Toronto, Mondays and Wednesdays at 20:55 and arrive in Delhi 21:15 (+1day).
